Fwd: Tulsa Metro Chamber - Tulsa Named Best Place to Live in the U.S.
Tulsa Named Best Place to Live in the U.S.
The country's best-kept secret it out. Relocate America has declared Tulsa the No. 1 place to live in the U.S.
Relocate America's TOP 100 Places To Live! list is compiled using data regarding local economy, housing, education, employment, crime, parks and recreation, and other statistics used to make home-buying decisions.
Communities around the country are nominated by residents, and information is submitted about neighborhoods, the city's beauty, the quality of schools, recreational activities and economic growth. The TOP 100 Places to Live! list is published annually.
"This ranking corroborates exactly what the Chamber uses to sell the Tulsa region 365 days of the year," said Mike Neal, president and CEO. "We are fairing much better during the national recession than many of our peer cities because of our diversified industries, quality of life and cost of living."The Tulsa region is our product. The Chamber is using this ranking and others like it to tell our story. The Tulsa region is experiencing resurgence due to investments made by the community in Vision 2025, streets, Four to Fix the County, education and private business. These investments are paying huge dividends to our community.
The Tulsa region is on the radar screens of site location consultants and existing businesses looking to expand in our market. But most importantly the Tulsa region is now on the radar screens of new college graduates and young talent because Tulsa is home to the nation's largest group, Tulsa's Young Professionals.
Tulsa has also been identified as the fifth best city in the nation to ride out the recession, according to Forbes.com.
"We have one of the strongest real estate markets in the country, and Tulsa is experiencing job growth other cities are not during this national recession," said Bob Ball, economist for the Chamber. "Additionally, our cost of living is 11.5 percent below the national average. When you consider all of this quality of life data, Tulsa is an attractive community to both businesses and relocating families."

CASA Quarterbacks Club Invitation
As you may or may not be aware, we are in severe need of male volunteers. More than half of our CASA kids are male: and we've only got about 18 guys in our volunteer corps. That's why we've begun the Tulsa CASA Quarterbacks Club; a sub-organization for men. Men who care about our community. Here's my request to you:If you know a man that is interested in learning about Tulsa CASA, attached is an invitation to our kick-off Quarterbacks Club event on April 28. It's going to be a really cool thing. Billy Sims is going to speak about CASA; there is a free BBQ dinner. 6-8 p.m. at the Farm Shopping Center, 51st and Sheridan. We NEED to have MEN there to learn more about CASA. We're not going to make them sign up at this point (because how can you force a man to do anything.....); it's an event to learn about the DIFFERENCE they can make in the life of a child in this community!!!!! Please let me know if you can come and bring a man or two, or six.Maia Maxwell WeaverVolunteer Support Coordinator www.tulsacasa.orgOn a Mission

Congresswoman Mary Fallin Addresses Maverick PAC
Mary Fallin, who has served as Oklahoma Lt Governor, State Senator, Congresswoman, and now running for Governor od Oklahoma addresses members of MavPAC at Cafe Nuvo in Oklahoma City.
Fallin expressed concern about government spending and the idea that government is the answer to all problems. Additionally, Fallin acknowledges that investors and businesses are afraid to spend money because they do not know what rules the government will come up with next. The government must step back and aloow people to make money. It is not evil to make money.
MavPAC is a group of business leaders from across the state of Oklahoma who work to promote business and, in turn, the quality of life for all Oklahomans.
